DIY Horror Effects Makeup and Prosthetics
I love Halloween where I get to experiment and show off basic special effects makeup. Here are some of the examples I have created over the years with no formal training or expensive professional equipment and materials, often done to my self.
Goblin DIY Prosthetics Self
One of my earlier attempts at DIY Halloween prosthetic makeup, done on myself predominantly using a mix of Copydex latex glue with acrylic paint and hairspray.
Not only did close friends have no idea who I was, one friend known to use hallucinogenic drugs run out of the nightclub room thinking I was actually real or a hallucination. I won the Halloween costume competition hands down.
Pirate DIY Prosthetics Self
For several years at Halloween and other events I have applied some homemade prosthetic makeup and skills for fancy dress night events using my pirate outfit and prop weapon leftovers.
There are several examples here.
Disembowled Zombie Self
What I can cook up with no resources in a tourist marina village with no creative stores.
Litterally I was dropped off by the coach with less than an a hour to walk to and book into the hostel, leave my bags and explore the single marina village high street for something to turn into a Halloween costume for the night. This is what I put together.
Flayed
Self
A mix of DIY prosthetics and cheap skinned look. Another Halloween job on self with syrup and tissue.
Melted Face
Self
Freaked out some teenagers on a bus with this one using some very dodgy materials. View more.
Uni Mates Psycho
Halloween
One of several simple hairspray and syrup effects. This one was Michael Myers (Halloween Movies) style.
Sweeny
Todd
Whilst doing promo work for the Sweeny Todd DVD release, did this hairspray makeup job to try and earn a bonus.
