In the Live Action Role Play LARP games axes whilst less manouverable and slower than swords, are often very useful in terms of reaching over shields and as a hook to trap and pull both weapons and opponents to the ground. Some of these had large holes in the blades to act as weapon traps to further this aim. The small ones are also useful for throwing due to the weight on the outside. When I started to make these competitors just stuck o the blades whihc were easy to rip off. Mine were far stronger, with cross bolts through the main shaft and moving away from pipe lagging to wraped foam that was shredded so water down latex could trikle down producing more natureal wood effects. The testure of this aso provided much more puschase for the latex to bond to the foam with all the resesses and the foam was more soaking.
Please note that many of the photos are very poor quality due to the only records being old cut up photos or damaged colour photocopies that had to be scanned & Photoshopped as best I could to clean them up. These were taken before I learned studio techniques with plain backgrounds & better lighting.
