In the Live Action Role Play games these were termed blunt weapons, basically clubs, hammers and maces (With flat flanges). Those with balls needed some short cross beams to hold the balls in place. Items like the large balls, hammers etc needed extra soft foam to lower the impact to opponent’s heads as much more solid and heavy than swords. Safety is always paramount. More so if supplying for use by clueless film extras.
Please note that many of the photos are very poor quality due to the only records being old cut up photos or damaged colour photocopies that had to be scanned & Photoshopped as best I could to clean them up. These were taken before I learned studio techniques with plain backgrounds & better lighting.
First Mace : Caveman like Club Commission for a Mate
First mace commission to a friend's sketches for a bloody, dirty club with some basic metal work & rough leather grip.
Typical construction of a mace. More up to date methods used contact glue not double sides tape and wrapped Plastazote foam for the shaft, with outside shredded and spritz painted.
