In Store Displays

Gym Job

The job (10 March 2012 - Agency Executional) here was just supposed to be leafletting for a day for a new gym outside a tube station for a new gym franchise opening. However a mixture of boredom & getting fed up with people running away when trying to give out flyers outside a tube station, resulted in me scavenging these parts to make displays that reversed the public’s behavior & they started coming to us to ask about the gym.

The idea to use balloons worked well as all the parents came over asking for balloons for their kids. Thus sticking the leaflets to the balloons worked well as instead of people avoiding being handed leaflets they turned to practically begging us for them.

Took over an hour to go and get the materials carry them over, then make the displays and backpack. During this time were not handing out the leaflets. However the investment of time and effort resulted in a far more effective day campaign with far more people talking to us and walking down to check out the gym. The client turned up and was very impressed. Just some string and balloons but shows how I think wanting to get creative with what is available and like making thinks look nice.

Release Day Merchandising Displays

I was not sure if I should add this. I was known when working as a merchandiser for Smollan Headcount for in store displays on launch days, got several end of year bonuses as well. Most photos are lost.

These displays have no budget, no hourly paid time, little in the way of resources other than some string, sticky tape and Bluetac plus any POS (Point of sale material) available. The DVD release day jobs are paid per visit, little over the minimum wage so very little time to spend in stores, often in stores I had not visited before so could not pre plan. Thus an amazingly creative Hollywood set piece is out of the question. More resourceful creativity to draw attention to the video being released as quick as possible so can leave.
